About the project

Name Every Color

The world is full of unnamed colors.
Name one.

Name Every Color is a playful web experience for capturing colors from the real world and giving them names.

Every photo holds colors we usually pass by without noticing — the blue before rain, the beige of an old wall, the orange of a fading sunset, the green on a quiet street corner. With Name Every Color, you can capture one of those colors, name the moment, and share it with the world.

Capture a Color

Start with a photo.

Upload an image or take a picture of something around you — the sky, your coffee, your cat, a street sign, a hotel room, a flower, a window at sunset.

Name Every Color will find the most visible colors in your photo and turn them into a small palette of captured moments.

You do not need to know design, color theory, or HEX codes. Just look around, take a photo, and choose the color that feels worth naming.

Pick One From the Real World

After your photo is analyzed, you will see a selection of prominent colors found in the image.

Each color comes with its HEX and RGB value, but the real question is not what the color is technically called.

The real question is: What does this color feel like?

Maybe it is:

  • Cloud Before Rain
  • Cat Nap Beige
  • Almost a Sunset
  • Old Photo Beige
  • The Sky Forgot Its Name
  • Toast Crumb Brown
  • Probably a Portal

Every color has a number. But not every color has a name.

Name the Moment

Choose one color from your photo and give it a name.

The name can be poetic, funny, strange, soft, simple, or oddly specific.

It can be a place. A memory. A weather feeling. A tiny observation. A color only you would have noticed.

A color name does not need to be perfect. It only needs to feel true to the moment.

Make it Glow

Once you have named your color, send it to the Global Color Wall.

This is where colors captured by people around the world come together — each one taken from a real photo, named by someone who noticed it.

Your color becomes part of a growing public wall of named moments.

Not just colors. Small pieces of the world, seen by someone, named by someone.

Explore the Global Color Wall

Browse colors captured and named by people everywhere.

See what others found in their skies, streets, rooms, travels, pets, meals, memories, and ordinary days.

You can explore the newest colors, the most popular names, or random discoveries from the wall.

Some names are beautiful. Some are weird. Some are funny for no reason. Some feel like tiny poems.

Together, they form a living archive of colors the world almost forgot to name.

Vote for the Names You Love

Every named color can be liked or disliked.

The names that resonate most can rise through the ranking, while new discoveries continue to appear every day.

A single HEX color may have many names from different people and different photos.

There is no first owner of a color. There is only the name people love most right now.

Share Your Color

After naming a color, you can create a shareable card with your color name, HEX value, and source image.

Share it with friends, post it online, or keep it as a small record of something you noticed.

Because sometimes a color is not just a color.

Sometimes it is a morning. A place. A memory. A mood. A little moment that finally has a name.
